Nightrunner Movie Update

I'm back from NYC, after a very productive weekend with the C-Squared guys, Charlie Spickler (screen writer/director) and Ed Morrill, producer (who greeted me at the airport with a sign: "Lynn McUnpronouncable" LOL) They're great guys and really want this project to do well. Charlie's a fan himself and is looking for ways to get as much of the story to screen as possible. I will tell you up front, getting it all in is simply impossible. Some things will have to be left out, some combined with other events. That's just the way it works. The hope is to preserve the backbone of the plot and the personalities of the characters. Charlie has committed to maintaining the relationship between Alec and Seregil at the level that I've intended--important, but not the main point of the story. There's actually very little of it in the first book at all. Seregil is being a gentleman and Alec is oblivious. ;-) So keep your fingers crossed and send us lots of virtual coffee.

And that's the part I was worried would be edited. Now I'm looking forward to this even more! I wish you the best of luck! (And considering I can't find my copies of the first two books, I probably won't notice any cuts... Grr. Must find them!)

That's an amazing news) Is it gonna be a movie then? With no chance of mini series?
Sep. 19th, 2009 05:01 pm (UTC)
It's more likely to be a mini series or two night, four hour "movie event".

who greeted me at the airport with a sign: "Lynn McUnpronouncable"

Okay, that made me giggle a whole lot more than it really should have. :D

This is VERY exciting news! Is this all still theoretical, or does it look like we can expect an actual film in the coming years?

There's a lot of ground to cover, including finding financing. We're just taking it one step at a time. I'm just enjoying the ride.

Since the most important question is answered (about the relationship between Alec and Seregil) I can't sit still and wonder about the actors... hopefully they'll fit their roles, I'm always sceptic when I first read the books... >_<;

That is amazing! :-)

It all sounds very exciting. I don't suppose they're to the point of talking about casting, but when they do, who do you have in mind for the parts?
Sep. 19th, 2009 06:40 pm (UTC)
We're at a point right now where I can't publicly discuss names, but when thinks firm up I'll be letting you know!

As long as they remain true to the spirit of the books, I'm sure things will go well. Especially if they keep you involved in the creative process. :)

Nothing special here just yay.
