Bosco went gently into that good night this morning at the vet's. It was very difficult to part with him, but it was definitely time and the vet confirmed it. When it was over we went to Golden Spoon and toasted him with vanilla soft serve, his favorite.
He was a good dog and I really, really am going to miss him. But as a Buddhist, I also say "happy death day, Bosco!" Hope his essence goes on to something good. He was a rescue; to the best of our knowledge, he was 14.
Thanks to all for your support and good wishes.

As I near the end of the revisions, I'm accepting all the help I can get. Zing is My Assistant Continuity Editor, Paperweight, and All Around Nuisance. (He's also Master Ringtail in the Tamir books.)

Bosco, on the other hand, has been pitching in on the house cleaning. He did the windows today, and as you can see, he's exhausted.

As you can also see, I have no idea how to photoshop out shiny animal eyes, or operate the blinds in my office.
That's it. My last brain cell just went pffffffffttttzzzzzz POP!

I don't know why, but flying east to west is worse than flying in the other direction for jet lag. I could hardly keep my eyes open yesterday, and ached all over. Not a lot better this morning. And I was wide awake by 5:30, local time.
The situation is not helped by the continuing pathological clingyness of Zing, who is glued to my side, and too weird for words. He's currently plastered against me here on the couch, with one paw up on the keyboard, touching my hand. Bosco's pointy nose is completely out of joint, as he was my velcro buddy in Sorrento.
Zing is probably mentally ill. If we put him out at night, he scratches at our bedroom window for hours without pause. Doug has resorted to spraying him with the hose. Even that doesn't deter him for long. And when he's in, he delights in driving Bosco to fits of angry barking. It's been a rough couple of nights. If we were rational people, we would get rid of one or the other, but we're not.
