Karmic synchronicity?

For a while now I've wanted a kwan yin statue for the koi pond. There's a place by the waterfall that just cried out for something of the sort, and I meditate there, so it would be a nice addition to that space.

Today I almost didn't go to yoga (lazy) but did, then I let myself linger in the shop, which I don't usually do, and lo and behold, there she was, the very statue I'd been drooling over on ebay. She's seated, with her hands in the gratitude mudra, cradling the pearl of wisdom. Not too expensive, since I'm a) cheap and b) would rather use the money for charity. I also thought of your story, abearius, about fetishizing the Sutra book that teaches nonattachment. *g*

So there she sits, serenely above the fish, reminding me of compassion.

But here's today's Beliefnet Buddhist reading:

A gold Buddha can't get through a furnace, a wood Buddha can't get through a fire, and a clay Buddha can't get through water. The real Buddha sits within: enlightenment, nirvana, suchness, and Buddha-nature are all clothes sticking to the body.

LOL! At least he didn't say anything against fake stone statues.
