Our New Town

This morning I was driving down Colton, on my way to the dentist. That street runs through the U Redlands campus, downtown, and on through a corner of the "less well kept" district, (as our realtor referred to the more run down, statistically more crime-ridden part of town), then on to the outlying malls. I'd just crossed Orange and passed the tattoo parlor when I noticed a young man being led out of the house next door in handcuffs to an unmarked car. I did a double take, and saw that there were lots of armed officers there, all in ATF flak vests. The house itself is one I've admired. It's an quaint old frame place, painted yellow, with a porch and a nicely overgrown yard full of wind chimes and funky lawn ornaments. I guess I'll have to watch tomorrow's headlines to see what was going on, although "ATF" certainly narrows down the possibilities.
