For those wondering about the satirical tone I took, I didn't know what else to do with such an odd match up.

I completely understand. Bast isn't even a fully fleshed out character yet. Its kinda hard to counter when you're not even sure what he can and can't do.

Thank you for not thrashing him too badly! That poker game though... gods, that would have been grand. ;)

I thought that was the point - everyone knows that this is supposed to be silly, so why not?

Also, just how many times *does* Seregil get naked in the new book? I mean, he strips down in the excerpt in Glimpses, but if this is a new trend....

*looks hopeful*

THANK YOU for the terrific account of the fight! I didn't want to vote on this one as I like both Bast and Seregil; but this is just how it could have ended.

Can I just say that write-up was fantastic? Although who wrote the stats for Seregil at the top? Those are incredibly incorrect....

Or is that what Seregil told them to expect?

It was a very careless mixup on someone's part. Supposedly it's going to be fixed.

That is good to hear. The 'gender issues' bit bothered me...what gender issues are they talking about? As I recall, Seregil is perfectly comfortable in his gender...and I don't see his ability to successfully cross-dress as a disadvantage. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they didn't mean it as an insult to his fancying men.

But then they refer to Bast as 'her', when he is also a male...so they seem to be equal opportunity screwing up descriptions.

Yes, that bothered me, too, and I mentioned it to them. It was meant to be "tongue-in-cheek" apparently, but they did change it to what I'd suggested: "Non-magical and a lousy archer" ;-)

Voted. And just in case anyone else ends up with the same trouble I did: If you don't see the poll, try another browser. It didn't show up for me in Chrome on the Mac, but did show up in Safari.

Voted! And check it out - Seregil and Bast are currently almost equal in votes.

I loved the story, especially the remarks about Seregil dropping his clothes at every opportunity. My favorite exhibitionist. ;)

This is off topic, but thought you might be like it. It's about Toola, a surrogate Otter mom.

Oh, that was excellent! Especially all the iron!

I tried to vote twice but alas, it wouldn't let me! ;P

My vote's in! Of course its for Seregil! Looking at the comments, some folks take this WAY serious, which was rather alarming. I wasn't expecting the next great american novel, just a quick amusing story - which is what I got. I do agree with the poster who lamented that the book in the matchup did not have a picture of Seregil. It's rather confusing to know the authors depiction of what he looks like, since all the books have wildly different covers. I'd be curious to know what he really looks like. Not a fans interpretation, but the authors true vision of the character...

I didn't get the animosity either. The whole concept is absurd, so why not have a little fun with it?

Here Lynn Flewelling posted a picture of an actor who really looks like Seregil. You could have a look if you haven't yet ;3

Interesting... I hadn't seen this before. Not quite the look of amusement/sarcasm/playfulness I imagined in his eyes, but it's just a still shot. I could definitely work with this....

I'm glad I could help ^^
Mar. 6th, 2012 04:14 pm (UTC)
I believe they've changed the picture to Shadows Return, which is a pretty good rendition.
Mar. 6th, 2012 06:41 pm (UTC)
Nice. Very nice indeed. I also took a look at the live actor who looks like Seregil. Not too bad, but let's keep looking. The depiction of Seregil on Shadows Return, looks slightly more masculine, without being overtly so, with a bit of a "Don't-Ef-With-Me" attitude, that I think Serigil posseses. :)

I voted! (For Seegil, of course. ^_~) And I just had to tell you that I loved your rendition of the fight! I about snorted my drink out of my nose. XD

OT: Snuggly otters
Mar. 7th, 2012 05:39 pm (UTC)
That was brilliant! I had such a good time reading that "fight" :) And was there ever any doubt that Seregil would win?
Mar. 7th, 2012 10:10 pm (UTC)
Voted Seregil of course! :D
The writing is hilarious and perfect, I ended up crying from the laughter! And also I was thinking the other day how much I missed Lady Gwethelyn, and here "she" is! :D

And as of now, Seregil is winning by a HUNDRED votes! Never underestimate the force of fangirls and fanboys :D
